Christina Blacklaws has been officially inaugurated as the 174th president of the Law Society of England and Wales in a ceremony at Chancery Lane.
The fifth woman to hold office as Law Society president, Christina has listed the empowerment of women in the legal profession as one of her key priorities for the year, along with the use of emerging technology and the provision of legal aid for early advice. As president, she will hold a one-year term as the senior representative of the solicitors’ profession, as well as chairing the Law Society council.
Commenting on her new role, Christina said: ‘I’m delighted, honoured and humbled to take up the presidency at such a pivotal time for our profession and, indeed, our society. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to make positive change and I promise I will work tirelessly to achieve it.’
