Senior partner re-elected for fourth term
The partnership at international law firm Kennedys has re-elected Nick Thomas as senior partner for a fourth term, following an uncontested ballot.
Nick Thomas joined the firm in 1977. He trained with Kennedys’ and became senior partner in 1997, when it had 25 partners and two UK offices. Today it has 197 partners, 10 UK offices and 17 international offices. Nick has overseen year-on-year growth by all measures and Kennedys is now an established top 30 UK law firm. For the last financial year (2015/16), global turnover at Kennedys was up 7% to £138.8m and, with it, UK revenue topped £100m for the first time in its history with turnover at £102m.
Speaking of his re-election, Nick Thomas says: “Naturally I am delighted that my fellow-partners have asked me to continue the growth journey I started twenty years’ ago, it has been a fantastic period for the firm, particularly given the recent merger and office openings internationally, which has all been driven by client need.
“Kennedys is a genuine global partnership with strong values and I am very proud to lead the firm. I can assure clients and colleagues alike that I will continue to drive Kennedys forward, with client need at the heart of all our decisions. Announcements of further growth are expected in 2017.”
Just last week, the firm announced it had opened a new office in Mexico City and increased its European presence through a formal association with Italian firm, Studio Legale Rinaldi Associati (RASS). In 2016 Kennedys opened four offices in Latin America and merged with boutique marine insurance law firm Waltons & Morse.
Nick’s latest term as senior partner begins on 27 January and is for five years.
