From dishonest claimants to judicial promotions and procedural skirmishes, the latest legal developments offer plenty for litigators to digest

Writing in NLJ this week, columnist Professor Dominic Regan of City Law School and the Frenkel Topping Group highlights Mr Justice Ritchie’s excoriating judgment against a claimant described as a ‘regular, detailed, unembarrassed liar’, who ultimately lost damages worth more than £378,000.

Regan also welcomes a raft of Court of Appeal appointments and the creation of the new Business and Property Division.

Elsewhere, he criticises procedural missteps in recent cases, including an appeal where the wrong Civil Procedure Rules test was applied and another featuring a remarkable 56 court orders.
