Restructuring and insolvency expert joins as partner

Osborne Clarke has appointed Andrew Eaton as UK partner in its restructuring & insolvency team. Eaton joins from Burges Salmon, where he was head of both restructuring & insolvency and banking & finance, and previously held partnership at Travers Smith in London. An Insol Fellow, he has advised corporates and financial institutions on complex cross-border restructurings and formal insolvencies, with recent matters including the Wasps rugby club administration, Rebel Energy, the Bakers + Baristas CVA, and the sale of Côte Restaurants to Partners Group.

The restructuring & insolvency team at Osborne Clarke has advised on some of the market’s most high-profile assignments, from Wirecard and Ted Baker to Peacocks and NRS Healthcare. Eaton’s arrival adds further strength to the firm’s non-contentious and advisory offering, complementing the practice led by partner Will Gunston and supported by recent hire Nick Axup, who leads the contentious insolvency side.

Gunston said: ‘Andy is recognised as one of the leading practitioners in the market and it is a pleasure to welcome him to the firm. His arrival will strengthen our advisory capabilities as well as the leadership within our growing team.’ He added that clients turn to Osborne Clarke for ‘fiduciary duties, complex insolvency processes, and restructuring strategies’.

Eaton commented: ‘Osborne Clarke’s strong relationships across the financial and restructuring community mean it is trusted by clients to help protect and create value. The team benefits from deep sector expertise and an international platform, helping it to navigate complexity and deliver results.’ He said he looked forward to ‘expanding the UK practice and contributing to the various international and cross-border opportunities that Osborne Clarke is engaged in’.
