DWF’s former head of restructuring joins Pillsbury’s London office as partner

In a move that significantly expands Pillsbury’s international insolvency & restructuring practice, the firm has welcomed Natasha Atkinson to join its finance & restructuring group as a partner in London. Atkinson comes to Pillsbury from DWF, where she served as Head of Restructuring in the UK and internationally.

'Businesses worldwide are confronting a confluence of challenging economic conditions right now, as changes in international dynamics, ongoing geopolitical events and critical supply chain disruptions threaten their bottom line,' said Firm Chair David Dekker. 'Natasha consistently manages complex, UK and cross-border transactions and restructurings to help clients successfully navigate these challenges. Her arrival complements our firm’s strong existing Insolvency and Restructuring capabilities and greatly enhances the support we can offer our global client base.'

Atkinson’s practice focuses on distressed insolvency transactions and restructurings as well as insolvency litigation. Her clients include funds, investment and clearing banks, corporates, management teams, property advisors and restructuring professionals. She has led a significant number of high-profile transactions across diverse industries including energy, financial, retail, hospitality, technology, aviation, logistics, life sciences & digital health, and professional services.

'We are very excited that Natasha, an excellent restructuring lawyer, is starting our on-the-ground restructuring practice in London. London has been, and will only continue to grow as, an important center for local and international in and out of court restructurings. Her practice also enhances and augments Pillsbury’s existing practice area strengths in energy, real estate, disputes and cross-border restructurings,' said Andrew Troop, Pillsbury’s Global Section Head of Insolvency & Restructuring. 'Beyond her proven abilities as a legal advisor, she is a team-oriented collaborator who is well-connected within the restructuring community around the world. She’s a fantastic addition to our excellent global team.'

Atkinson has handled many high-profile pre-pack administrations, advised on Part 26 A restructuring plans and schemes of arrangement, supplier of last resort proceedings, and managed intricate financial regulatory administrations. She is also adept at advising offshore banks, with significant related experience in Jersey, Guernsey and the British Virgin Islands. She offers substantial experience as a specialist insolvency litigator as well, advising on all aspects of insolvency and securities disputes.

'Natasha is another important addition to our UK offering team, further expanding our growing London transactional capabilities while concurrently enhancing Pillsbury’s established strengths in cross-border matters around the globe,' added Matthew Oresman, managing partner of the firm’s London office. 'Her international experience and dual qualifications in England and Scotland will afford our clients even more of the expertise needed to execute complex, multi-jurisdictional transactions and thrive in today’s turbulent markets.'

'I am delighted to join Pillsbury and its team of highly qualified and recognized Restructuring practitioners,' Atkinson said. 'The continued elevation of the firm’s international profile and expansion in London align well with my practice and I look forward to collaborating with partners across the firm’s strong global network to continue that growth.'
