Brick Court’s David Anderson QC has received a peerage and a knighthood in the space of a few days.
Anderson (pictured), a former independent reviewer of terrorism legislation as well as a barrister specialising in EU, public and human rights law, received news last week that he is to be made a cross-bench Peer.
Just a few days later, Anderson was appointed Knight Commander of the British Empire in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List, for services to national security and civil liberties.
Sir David, as he now is, expects to be introduced to the House of Lords after the summer recess. Though a working peer, he will continue to practise law.
Several other lawyers featured in the Queen’s Birthday Honours, including James Eadie QC, first treasury counsel, knighted for services to law and government, and former director of the Serious Fraud Office, David Green QC, knighted for services to the criminal justice system.
Sonya Bedford, partner and head of energy at Stephens Scown, received an MBE for services to community energy.
