William Fry, Accenture & Freshfields on top in 2022 Law Society RFC 7s, Netball and Mixed Tag tournament

The annual Law Society RFC 7s & Netball Tournament saw 76 teams from 42 different law and financial services firms compete to be crowned champions in this year’s mixed tag, rugby and netball games.

Taking place on 18 September at Richmond Rugby Club, the 2022 contest was ‘the biggest and best tournament we have hosted’, according to tournament director Daniel How. The mixed tag event saw the number of teams participating double from 12 to 24, with Accenture taking the cup from Osborne Clarke in the final. Russell-Cooke took home the Fair Play Award, sponsored this year by legal recruitment firm LTN & Partners.

20 teams took part in the rugby contest, with Kennedys being beaten by the team from William Fry, who took home their first tournament cup. The netball tournament hosted 32 teams, and previous two-time winners Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer claimed the hat-trick, triumphing over Simmons and Simmons in the final.

Mental health charity LawCare was on site for the event to promote the support that they provide to members of the legal profession. Their raffle took £1,200 on the day thanks to the generous donations of players and supporters.

The 2023 tournament is already in the calendar, taking place on 17 September next year. For further information and sponsorship opportunities for 2023, Daniel can be contacted at lawsocietyrugby7s@yahoo.co.uk or on 07889 641 939.
