London office welcomes fintech expert as partner

Global firm Reed Smith has appointed Howard Womersley Smith as a partner in its IP, Tech and Data practice in the London office.

Howard previously spent almost three years as a partner with Taylor Vinters, where he headed the fintech and data department. He was also the former head of legal and compliance at Standard Chartered Bank, and spent five years working in Hong Kong. He offers broad experience advising financial services providers on both the customer and supply side, as well as acting for suppliers to the financial services sector.

Partner and head of the international information technology, privacy and data security team Cynthia O’Donoghue commented: ‘Howard brings with him a great depth of knowledge on current issues such as GDPR, as well as a true specialism in fintech and financial services which align perfectly with our sector focus at Reed Smith.
