From 1 March, first hearings in family cases at the Royal Courts of Justice are to be attended in person, the President of the Family Division, Sir Andrew McFarlane has said
However, the court will consider any requests for the remote alternative in individual cases, having regard to the interests of justice. Currently, the default position is that hearings will be held remotely. The format of arrangements at family courts other than at the Royal Courts of Justice will be at the discretion of the judge.
