Does research throw doubt over red-tape initiative?
After three years of decline, the number of new UK laws introduced has increased by 8%, according to research by Sweet & Maxwell. Despite the government’s red-tape initiative, 1,466 new laws were introduced over the last year, compared with the 1,355 laws introduced in 2011.
