Warning over "bring your own device"
The Legal Software Suppliers Association has warned that law firms need to adapt to the culture of “bring your own device” (BYOD). Ian Wimbush, chair of the association said that while lawyers who use their personal smartphones and iPads to keep in touch with clients may be seen as “diligent and conscientious”, there are risks involved. Wimbush said the Information Commissioner’s Office has recently released a set of guidelines on BYOD. These cover issues such as passwords, theft or loss of the device, and termination of employment.
