Firm launches rural and agribusiness offering with consultant hire
Russell-Cooke has announced the appointment of consultant Anita Symington to head up the firm’s new cross-sector Rural & Agribusiness practice.

Anita has over 35 years’ experience advising clients on all aspects of agricultural property law and agribusiness.

She will lead Russell-Cooke’s cross-sector Rural and Agribusiness offering which brings together the firm’s broad range of specialisms including real estate law, agricultural finance, natural capital and forestry, planning, development and options, viticulture, portfolio diversification, farming structures, agricultural disputes, rural trusts and estate planning as well as agricultural and farming compliance and prosecutions and rural housing.

Partner and head of real estate Matt Garrod said: 'Anita is a welcome addition to the real estate group and will strengthen our expertise in agricultural property law. This has long been an area of real specialism right across the firm, with our collective experience ranging from advising on the acquisition, letting, and disposal of agriculture land and estates and their management, to animal welfare and rural compliance. It is exciting to be able to bring this diverse skillset together under Anita’s leadership, ensuring clients receive joined up advice for all their rural and agribusiness needs.'

Anita Symington commented: 'I’m thrilled to be joining a team which already has a wealth of experience in a variety of areas that affect landed estate and farming clients. Agricultural legislation and income support is changing rapidly at the moment and there is a need to be able to provide high quality advice on a diverse range of issues including new environmental legislation and agricultural financial support, biodiversity net gain and natural capital issues. Russell-Cooke are well placed to do that. I am excited to explore these opportunities with clients and look forward to working with everyone at Russell-Cooke.'

Anita is the latest appointment to Russell-Cooke’s growing real estate group, following real estate finance expert Mark Toland and planning specialist Catherine Knight who both joined the firm in early 2023.
