Shakespeare Martineau—Helen Richardson

Company secretarial team welcomes partner in London

Leading law firm Shakespeare Martineau has appointed Helen Richardson as partner in its company secretarial (CoSec) team. Based in the London office, Helen brings extensive experience in corporate governance and listed board advisory, particularly in the investment trust space. She will head the CoSec team and lead its strategic growth across the UK.

Helen joins from JTC and Triple Point Investment Management, where she held senior roles advising listed companies from IPOs through to managed wind-downs. She said she was ‘drawn to Shakespeare Martineau by the strength of its brand, breadth of expertise and its genuinely people-focused culture’. Her goal is to expand a ‘dynamic and market-leading CoSec team’ that helps clients meet their governance challenges ‘with confidence’.

The appointment aligns with the firm’s strategy to broaden its multidisciplinary support for listed and private companies across diverse sectors. The CoSec team offers services ranging from statutory filings to board advisory and transactional regulatory support. Helen is a chartered secretary with the Chartered Governance Institute.

Emma Porter, head of managed legal services, described Helen as ‘a great asset to our clients’ and praised her deep sector knowledge. ‘Her leadership experience will help us strengthen and scale our CoSec offering,’ Porter added, noting the firm’s commitment to delivering holistic legal services at every stage of the corporate lifecycle.
