Sidley—James Inness

Partner joins capital markets team in London office

Sidley has appointed James Inness as a partner in its capital markets group in London. He joins from Latham & Watkins, where he was a partner and co-head of the uk equity capital markets practice, and reunites with partners David Stewart and Vladimir Mikhailovsky, who also recently moved to the firm.

Inness has more than 20 years’ experience advising issuers, underwriters and major shareholders on primary and secondary equity capital markets transactions, including securities offerings in the EU and the US. He is recognised as a leading lawyer for uk equity capital markets in Legal 500 UK and Chambers & Partners UK.

Yvette Ostolaza, chair of Sidley’s management committee, said Inness is ‘a stand out UK equity capital markets lawyer’ and that adding him was ‘a strategic priority for the firm’, further enhancing its capital markets offering following a series of recent hires.

Tom Thesing, managing partner of the London office, said the firm is ‘adding the scale necessary to provide the best possible capital markets service’ and that bringing Inness on board ‘underlines the firm’s investment to service clients looking to take advantage of the cross-border opportunities in London.’
