Firm strengthens Dublin office with new medical negligence partner
Kennedys has appointed medical negligence specialist Siobhán Hayes as a partner in Dublin to build up its defendant healthcare practice.
Siobhán joins from Arthur Cox, where she was partner and has worked since 1998.
Siobhán has worked with major insurers, medical and dental defence unions and has experience in defending a broad range of cases for hospitals and the Irish Health Service Executive. Her cases have included misdiagnosis and surgical error, claims for catastrophic injuries following brain and spinal surgery, inadequate treatment and delayed breast cancer diagnosis. Siobhán’s medical negligence experience also extends to defending general practitioners, dentists and consultants.
Kennedys’ senior partner, Nick Thomas, says: “We grow our firm by reference to client need, and having a healthcare specialist in Ireland will be of great benefit to our clients. We are seeing a growing interest from our insurer clients who are targeting healthcare as a grow sector. Siobhán has a strong reputation in the Irish medical negligence market and I am delighted that she has joined us. We are committed to attracting top talent, from which our clients will benefit, and Siobhán’s appointment is another example of this in practice.”
Siobhán says: “I’m delighted to be joining Kennedys and specifically the insurance practice. Kennedys has a great local and international reputation, and I’m looking forward to building out its healthcare services and working with clients in Ireland and around the world.”
