Litigation firm Stewarts has expanded the tax litigation and
investigations team with a triple hire, of James Le Gallais, Sarah Stenton and
Lisa Vanderheide.
James (pictured) comes on board as a partner after almost seven
years with Peters & Peters, and was previously a barrister at Five Paper
Buildings. He focuses his practice on commercial tax litigation, and is also
the vice president of the International Association of Young Lawyers’
Commercial Fraud Commission.
Lisa Vanderheide and Sarah Stenton have both joined the
department as tax directors, and will focus on handling tax investigations,
complex and high value enquiries, and pre-litigation issues.
With the new arrivals, Stewarts’ tax disputes department will
shortly expand to seven partners, following the upcoming promotions of Lee
Ellis and Darren Kidd to partner on 1 May.
Stewarts’ head of tax litigation David Pickstone commented: ‘The
arrival of James, Lisa and Sarah marks further evolution for the tax litigation
capability at Stewarts. We now have four distinct areas under the contentious
tax umbrella; direct tax litigation, indirect tax litigation, tax
investigations and commercial tax litigation.
‘The addition of tax investigations means we will be able to
offer advice to clients at an earlier stage in any dispute with HMRC, in
addition to seeing cases through to tribunal if necessary.’
