A survey in February by the Law Society’s Junior Lawyers Division has uncovered alarming reports of stress among its members. More than 93% had suffered with stress (defined as being under emotional or mental pressure) in the month prior to completing the survey, with 26% reporting they had been severely or extremely stressed. The key factors were high workload, lack of support, client demands and expectations and ineffective management. Nearly three-quarters of respondents said their firm did not do enough to support them.
