Firm expands its dispute resolution practice with senior lateral hire
Seddons has strengthened its dispute resolution capabilities with the appointment of commercial litigation partner, Susan Monty. Susan specialises in the resolution of complex financial and regulatory disputes and joins from Simons Muirhead & Burton where she headed up the financial crime, civil fraud & regulatory litigation team.
Susan is a leading expert in complex financial and regulatory disputes with over 20 years’ experience, working at leading City law firms and as an investigative lawyer at the Serious Fraud Office. She advises companies and individuals on complex and multi-jurisdictional civil litigation—from fraud claims and asset tracing to breaches of fiduciary duties and professional negligence actions—as well as advising in proceedings brought against individuals by regulatory bodies, such as the Financial Conduct Authority and the Competition and Market Authority. Susan has advised government bodies and the Law Commission on potential law changes. She is a recognised thought leader in this area of law, regularly lecturing and writing for major legal publications.
Simon Ross, managing partner at Seddons, comments: “This is an excellent addition to our dispute resolution team and the wider firm. Susan’s unique practice allows us to expand our offering in a specialist area of litigation, responding to our clients’ needs. Her hire further boosts our growth and adds to our vision to be the first choice law firm in London's West End.”
Susan comments: “I am excited to be joining such a highly-regarded team of experts. Civil fraud and regulatory expertise is increasingly in demand, with a plethora of financial fraud now being perpetrated online and a renewed vigour amongst the regulators to investigate potential regulatory breaches. Working closely with the dispute resolution team, I look forward to building upon Seddons’ significant reputation and growing this additional area of expertise.”
