Taylor Rose—Amarjit Ryatt

Partner appointed head of family and divorce

Taylor Rose has promoted Amarjit Ryatt to head of family and divorce, a move that marks a significant step in the firm’s strategy to grow its private family law offering. Bringing more than two decades of specialist experience, Ryatt joined the firm through its 2020 merger with MW Solicitors and is known for his work on complex divorce, financial settlements, nuptial agreements and child arrangements. He is also accredited to the Law Society’s children panel, reflecting his expertise in matters involving child welfare.

The promotion follows last year’s strategic restructuring, which saw the family law department withdraw from legal aid to focus exclusively on private client work. The team now concentrates on divorce and financial settlements, child arrangements, cohabitation, pre- and post-nuptial agreements and Trust of Land Act applications, with particular focus on clients with significant assets, multiple properties and sizable pensions.

Ryatt leads the department from the firm’s Carter Lane office, supported by partners Gemma Hastewell and Georgina Earl-Hutton. Alongside its employed specialists, Taylor Rose also has more than 25 consultancy lawyers practising in family law, further strengthening its capability across complex and high-value matters.

CEO Adrian Jaggard said the team was committed to delivering the specialist support families need at ‘some of life’s most complex and sensitive moments’, adding that Ryatt’s leadership would be central to that ambition. Ryatt described the appointment as arriving at ‘a pivotal time for family law’, noting growing demand for out-of-court resolution and an increase in nuptial agreements as younger professionals seek to ‘protect their assets’.
