The Tribunals Service has published figures showing a 43% rise in employment tribunal claims over 12 months, and a ten-fold increase in the number of equal pay claims in the last five years. Tom Potbury, an employment solicitor at Pinsent Masons, says: “This is more bad news for employers in what are already very difficult times and the widespread redundancies taking place at the minute will give rise to more claims in future, so the picture is unlikely to improve any time soon.”

The Court of Appeal has slammed the brakes on claimants trying to swap defendants after limitation has expired.
