UK-Swiss mobility arrangements made permanent

Legal professionals and law firms will be able to continue travelling to Switzerland without a visa for up to 90 days a year under the UK-Switzerland Free Trade Agreement (FTA), announced this week

This will make permanent the current business mobility arrangements in the UK-Switzerland Services Mobility Agreement (SMA), due to expire in 2029.

Under the agreement, UK solicitors will be able to advise on English, Welsh, Scots and international law in Switzerland. The agreement will provide more certainty for secondments and transfers between UK and Swiss offices.

Law Society president Mark Evans described the FTA as ‘an important milestone for legal services’.
