Students win university law reform competition
The Law Commission has congratulated the winners of its first-ever university law reform competition, which was launched to mark the Commission’s 50th anniversary.
The winning team of law students from the University of Sheffield were welcomed to the Commission where they presented their project, “A meeting of minds: denouncing ‘parasitic liability’ in joint enterprise”, to the Law Commissioners. The team comprised: Elliot Booth (4th year LLB Law (European & International) (Hons)); Jessica Low (3rd year LLB Law (Hons)); Nicola Campbell (2nd year LLB Law (European and International) (Hons)); and Scott Leonard (3rd year LLB Law (Hons)).
Presenting the team with their award, Chairman Sir David Bean said: “Our congratulations go to the Sheffield students whose winning entry is clearly the result of hard work and collaborative, creative thinking. We are delighted to welcome them to the Law Commission and thank them for taking part in our 50th anniversary competition.
“Taking part in this competition offers students an opportunity to practise skills that are highly valued in the legal profession and gives them an insight into the demands, complexities and benefits of the important work of law reform.”
