National law firm Weightmans has appointed Kate Abrahams as a consultant in its fraud department, in a move aimed at bolstering its intelligence-led capabilities. Formerly head of intelligence and data analytics at DAC Beachcroft, Abrahams brings over 25 years of experience from both the legal field and the police.
Abrahams expressed enthusiasm for the new role, saying she is ‘really looking forward to bringing all my experience in intelligence, data analytics, fraud, KYO, and many other aspects of claims, insurance and law’. She added that she will be drawing on her data knowledge ‘to ensure that the firm is maximising its incredible data resource’.
Mike Brown, head of fraud at Weightmans, welcomed the hire, noting: ‘She always strives to succeed and is a natural leader.’ He said the timing of her appointment ‘comes at an opportune time following the refresh of the firm’s fraud offering’.
Kieran Jones, partner and head of insurance, highlighted the strategic nature of the move amid a shifting financial crime landscape, stating: ‘Bringing in the right people, with the right skills and specialisms, allows us to tackle these challenges head on.’
