Pinsent Masons partner takes on role of Dean

Aston Law School in Birmingham has announced the appointment of Jonathan Fortnam as its next Dean.

Dispute resolution expert Jonathan has made the move after more than 30 years as a partner with Pinsent Masons. His career saw him handling professional indemnity, corporate and commercial disputes and international fraud cases that have taken him to the House of Lords, the Court of Appeal and the High Court.

Jonathan commented: ‘I am delighted to be joining Aston Law School, having been attracted to the role by the strong reputation the university has for developing highly talented law graduates and its innovative and practical research. I am also excited to have the opportunity to build on my experiences in practice and business to the benefit of new generations of graduates who will add value to enterprise in the UK.

‘Aston Law School sits within Aston Business School, providing a unique environment for students to develop commercial and management skills alongside their legal skills.’

Professor George Feiger, Executive Dean of Aston Business School, added: ‘Jonathan joins Aston Law School at a very exciting time, as we grow our unique offering which combines high quality legal and business education.

‘Jonathan brings a wealth of experience from legal practice, as well as important insight on how to prepare the law professionals of the future. His appointment reinforces our commitment to providing opportunity to our students, and support for local businesses and the community that we serve.’
