Firm appoints chief operating officer to strengthen leadership team

Birketts has appointed Barbara Hamilton-Bruce as chief operating officer, joining the firm’s senior leadership team as it continues a period of sustained growth. She will oversee risk and compliance, finance, IT, operations, data and change management, supporting the firm’s long-term strategy and client service delivery.

Hamilton-Bruce joins from Simmons & Simmons, where she was a partner and legal operations director. She brings more than 30 years’ experience in legal operations, transformation and leadership, with a track record of driving organisational change and implementing technology-enabled, client-focused operating models.

Jonathan Agar, chief executive, said he is ‘delighted to welcome Barbara’ and described her as ‘the perfect addition to our leadership team’, adding her appointment ‘reflects our ambition and confidence as we look ahead to the next stage’ of the firm’s development.

Hamilton-Bruce said she is ‘pleased to be joining Birketts at such an important point in the firm’s journey’ and looks forward to ‘playing a role in shaping a firm that is fit for the future’, adding she is keen to ‘harness that experience, identify new opportunities, and continue enhancing both the client and employee experience’.
