North east firm appoints two corporate partners

A fast growing North East law firm is continuing its expansion plans, with the appointment of two highly experienced corporate partners.

Peter Robinson (left) has joined Burnetts, based at Dean Street, Newcastle, bringing with him 27 years of corporate experience.

He has come to Tyneside after working in the south of the region, having been involved in helping businesses from starting up to supporting their growth, as well as working on flotations and acquisitions for a number of private and public clients.

Originally from County Durham, Peter has come to Burnetts to add his expertise to the existing team, which is continuing to deal with an increasing number of clients.

'My first reason for coming to Burnetts is because they seemed like such a good bunch of people,' said Peter.

'And it gave me the opportunity to be part of something that is growing and going from strength to strength. It’s early days but I am very excited to be part of a company which has a really clear vision.”

Peter’s words are echoed by Paul Bell (right), who also took up a partner role with the corporate team at the end of 2022.

Paul was previously Head of Corporate Law at Newcastle’s Short, Richardson & Forth and has been practising for more than 20 years, specializing in general mergers and acquisitions.

'Burnetts is a great firm doing great things and which continues to build towards its great future,' he said.

'It is well established and has had a real presence in Newcastle for the past ten years and I’m delighted to be part of that.

'The culture here is what attracts people and I’m delighted to be able to add my expertise to he support Burnetts gives its business clients.'

The corporate team provides a whole range of services to support businesses at all levels, including mergers, acquisitions and disposals, restructuring advice, contracts, intellectual property, data protection and corporate governance.

Michael Walby, Head of Corporate at Burnetts said that both appointments were a huge asset to the team.

'Both Paul and Peter are an important part of our growth strategy for our corporate team in Newcastle, which has been extremely successful to date,' he said.

'With both of them now on board and the expertise and experience they bring, this is great news for both Burnetts and our ever-expanding client list.'
