Civil Justice Council—Nigel Teasdale

DWF insurance services director appointed to Civil Justice Council

DWF has announced that Nigel Teasdale, commercial director in its insurance services division, has been appointed to the Civil Justice Council for a three-year term commencing on 23 January 2026. Approved by the Lord Chancellor, the council advises on reforms to improve the accessibility, fairness and efficiency of the civil justice system.

Teasdale is global commercial director for insurance at DWF and has worked in the insurance sector for nearly 30 years. A former president of the Forum of Insurance Lawyers, he has also given evidence to parliamentary committees on insurance and motor-related issues and currently serves as a director of MedCo.

Commenting on his appointment, Teasdale said: ‘I am honoured to be appointed to the Civil Justice Council at a time of significant change and opportunity within the civil justice system.’ He added that he looked forward to ‘support reforms that enhance accessibility, fairness and efficiency’.

Matthew Doughty, chief executive of DWF, said the appointment was ‘richly deserved’. He added that Teasdale’s ‘deep understanding of the insurance market’ and experience in policy development and parliamentary scrutiny would ‘bring valuable insight to the Council’s work’.
