Ellisons—Sarah Osborne

Leasehold enfranchisement specialist joins residential property team

Ellisons has appointed Sarah Osborne as a senior associate in its residential property team in Bury St Edmunds. Osborne joins with more than 16 years’ experience specialising in leasehold enfranchisement, advising on lease extensions, freehold purchases and right to manage claims.

She acts for individual flat owners, residential management companies and property investors, and has experience handling technically complex matters, including disputed rights of way and rooftop development cases. Osborne has also represented clients before the First-tier Tribunal and the County Court.

Her appointment comes as demand for specialist leasehold advice grows following recent reforms and ongoing uncertainty around the practical operation of new measures affecting leaseholders, landlords and lenders. Osborne is recognised as a Rising Star in Legal 500 and previously served as a member of the Council for Licensed Conveyancers before qualifying as a solicitor in 2013.

Carly Callaghan, legal director and head of residential property at Ellisons, said: ‘Leasehold enfranchisement is a highly technical area and, against the backdrop of continuing reform, clients need clear, specialist advice they can trust.’ Osborne added: ‘Ellisons has a strong reputation for residential property work and for providing clear, practical advice.’
