Experts investigated

Expert witnesses may have exaggerated in court

About 20,000 court cases may have to be re-heard after expert witnesses allegedly exaggerated figures, according to a report by the BBC.

The witnesses, currently under investigation, worked for Autofocus, a car-hire-price researcher which has now gone into liquidation.

The dispute concerns the cost of replacement vehicles. If found to have lied in court, the experts could receive prison sentences.
