Fox Williams has announced the arrival of a new venture capital partner and a new securities litigation
partner to enhance its market offering in two growing areas for the
firm.
Bryan Shaw will be part of the
firm’s multidisciplinary technology group and will deepen the firm’s offering
for high growth technology companies, market-leading fintech and traveltech
businesses.
Matthew Reach joins our
securities litigation practice, seeking recovery for institutional investors
from around the world when public companies mislead the market and cause loss
to shareholders. These are major claims which are typically brought under s90
and s90A of FSMA and which are increasingly caused by ESG breaches.
Bryan was previously a partner
at MBM Commercial and has significant experience advising on venture capital
investment in technology. He regularly advises entrepreneurs and companies in
the tech, digital and financial services sectors and investors along the equity
fundraising journey through to exit. Bryan also advises a range of corporate
clients in various M&A, private equity, and venture capital transactions.
Matthew joins from Keystone
Law where he was a partner. He is an experienced commercial litigator with
specialist expertise in securities and shareholder group litigation. Matthew
acts for large corporate entities, funds and fund managers, SMEs,
high-net-worth individuals, and group action claimants (institutional investors)
in bringing and defending claims in the High Court, Court of Appeal and various
arbitration institutions.
Senior partner Paul Osborne
says: 'I’m delighted to welcome Bryan and Matthew to the firm. Both are
exceptional lawyers who will help develop and build out strategically important
practice areas as part of the firm’s wider business strategy.
'Our recent financial results
have seen the firm enter the Legal Business 100, which represents an important
milestone. The arrival of Bryan and Matthew will help achieve our strategy of
building market-leading sector practices that make a real difference to our
clients.'
Bryan says: 'Fox Williams’
focus on the technology sector is well known and it’s a pleasure to be joining
its team of excellent lawyers. This is a challenging but nevertheless exciting
time in the UK for tech companies and I look forward to providing clients with
all my experience and expertise.'
Matthew says: 'I’m very excited to be joining Fox Williams and helping the securities litigation practice go from strength to strength. I’m also looking forward to bringing my commercial litigation experience to support the firm’s wider dispute resolution team and contributing to further notable successes.'
