In brief

The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) must speed up the full review of the Qualified Lawyers Transfer Regulations (QLTR), the Law Society says. The society says new SRA guidance on the issue is not proportionate and could be perceived as anti-competitive and protectionist. Society president, Andrew Holroyd, says: “We have decided to focus our energies on the much needed full review of the QLTR regulations which has already begun. We will be asking the SRA to ensure it has arrangements in place to ensure test providers advise applicants on the need to consider how they will fulfil the experience requirement if they intend to sit the written tests.”
