Hill Dickinson—Alastair Moss

London real estate team welcomes partner

Law firm Hill Dickinson has announced the hire of partner Alastair Moss as it starts the year by boosting the firm’s fast-growing Real Estate team in London under practice head Jim Garton.

Alastair joins with 25 years of experience working in property law, the last 16 of which was at Memery Crystal where he was co-head of Real Estate. His arrival at Hill Dickinson adds a wealth of experience to the team in commercial and residential property legal work, acting for investors, banks and occupiers on all aspects of real estate.

Welcoming him to the team, Jim Garton, head of the firm’s London Real Estate practice, said: 'Alastair joins us at a very exciting time in the growth of Hill Dickinson’s London real estate offering. The variety and value of instructions we are receiving from clients across the UK for real estate work has made us an increasingly attractive firm to work for. That is reflected in the calibre of senior appointments we have attracted to the firm in recent months. We are delighted that someone with Alastair’s experience and professional standing in the sector is now part of our London team.'

Craig Scott, head of the firm’s Business Services group, added: 'Alastair’s appointment reflects a key step towards realising our ambitious growth plans for 2023 to expand our London Real Estate team further. We invested significantly in 2022 in the expansion of our national Real Estate team via quality lateral hires as we continue to build capacity UK-wide in response to client and market demand. Hiring Alastair into our London Real Estate team is just the latest part of a considered investment plan by which we plan to double the size and capacity of our London-based team over the next few years. We will be introducing Alastair to our clients over the next few weeks and months and are also looking forward to welcoming his personal portfolio of clients and contacts to Hill Dickinson.'

Alastair is an elected member of the City of London Corporation, where he is deputy chair of the Planning and Transportation Committee and political lead for legal and HR matters for the Corporation. He previously served for 12 years as an elected member of Westminster City Council, principally as chair of the Planning & City Development Committee. He is also a non-executive director of Civitas Social Housing plc and a trustee of Marshall's Charity.

He holds a MA in Jurisprudence from the University of Oxford and attended the University of Law in Guildford before qualifying as a solicitor in 1998 and is ranked in legal directory Chambers and Partners as a Leading Individual.
