Further steps are being taken towards liberalising India’s legal services market after the Bar Council of India changed its position. A memorandum of understanding is now being drawn up by the Law Society, Bar Council of England and Wales and the Bar Council of India, which could open up the legal market in India to joint ventures and investments by UK and global law firms. The change of position coincided with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the UK.
