International arbitration: a risky business?

The use of international arbitration to deal with matters that might otherwise be dealt with by domestic courts is becoming more widespread, Khawar Qureshi QC writes in this week’s NLJ. London has retained its prominence despite the creation of arbitration centres in Dubai and Singapore, and it is likely that arbitration will continue to grow. However, there have been concerns about arbitrator impartiality, costs delays, “old-style court-like” process and the lack of a clear ethical framework for conduct. Qureshi outlines recent developments.
