Banking & finance trio comes on board

McCarthy Denning has welcomed a trio of experience financial services lawyers to its banking and finance team.

Joining the firm as partner, Henning von Sachsen-Altenburg (pictured) has formerly worked with such organisations as Linklaters, Hogan Lovells, Barclays Capital and PwC, and is dual qualified in German and English law. He is widely experienced in financial services matters, including commercial, banking and regulatory law.

Richard Ambery, who also joins the firm as partner, has previously held positions at Clifford Chance, Dechert, and Mayer Brown, as well as having worked extensively in Malta. He specialises in capital markets and derivatives, particularly in the areas of asset-backed securities and securitisation, and regularly acts for major multinational financial institutions.

Sarah Law has also joined McCarthy Denning, taking on the role of consulting solicitor. Sarah spent more than 12 years with Allen & Overy, and offers extensive experience advising on domestic and cross-border syndicated and bilateral financings, with particular emphasis on sponsor-driven leveraged and acquisition financing.

Warren Wooldridge, CEO of McCarthy Denning, commented: ‘We would like to extend a warm welcome to Henning, Richard and Sarah who are joining our well established banking & finance team, enhancing the firm’s international financial services offering. Part of McCarthy Denning’s strategy, and our strength, is representing not only the established players, such as banks and large funds, but also advising smaller funds, family offices, SMEs and institutional investors.’

Timing is everything—and the Court of Appeal has delivered clarity on when proceedings are ‘brought’. In his latest 'Civil way' column for NLJ, Stephen Gold explains that a claim is issued for limitation purposes when the claim form is delivered to the court, even if fees are underpaid
The traditional ‘single, intensive day’ of financial dispute resolution (FDR) may be due for a rethink. Writing in NLJ this week, Rachel Frost-Smith and Lauren Guiler of Birketts propose a ‘split FDR’ model, separating judicial evaluation from negotiation
