Paul Edels—Morecrofts

IP specialist joins commercial team

Intellectual property specialist Paul Edels has joined the commercial law team at Morecrofts Solicitors.

Paul previously spent 15 years working in-house in product development, brand management and international licensing, working with a diverse range of brands from the Teletubbies to Hoover, as well as international toy businesses and two successful Dragon’s Den ventures.

He joins Morecrofts from Brown Turner Ross solicitors and his new role will see him advising clients upon a range of commercial matters including commercial agreements, corporate transactions and intellectual property.

Helen Broughton, managing partner at Morecrofts Solicitors, says the appointment of Edels will bring a new layer of experience to the firm’s growing commercial department: “Paul has a rich and fairly unique blend of industry and legal sector experience, which we are confident he will bring to bear on behalf of Morecrofts’ clients. Our commercial team continues to thrive and Paul’s arrival will bring further fresh impetus to our ambitions for future growth in this area.”

Paul says: “I’ve spent many years working on the client side of IP protection and exploitation, dealing with all manner of products, including industrial components, household products and a host of toys and gifts, so I know first-hand the challenges that innovators can face.

“Hopefully this experience will stand me in good stead and allow me to advise businesses, especially those in the creative sector, on how best to safeguard and commercialise their hard work and ideas.”
