Crime & fraud specialist returns as partner

London firm Russell-Cooke has welcomed Martin Rackstraw to the firm as a partner in its fraud and criminal litigation team.

Martin has joined the firm from his former position of partner with Bindmans, where he served as joint head of criminal law and fraud from 2012 to 2019. He began his legal career with Russell-Cooke where he trained and qualified. His appointment has brought the total number of partners at Russell-Cooke to 60.

Martin brings with him extensive experience representing clients in investigations and prosecutions involving allegations of financial and business crime, homicide, and international bribery and corruption. He also acts in cases concerning political or human rights elements, such as extraditions.

Jae Carwardine, partner in the criminal litigation team, commented: ‘It really is a pleasure to welcome Martin back to the firm. Russell-Cooke is recognised as one of the leading criminal solicitors in the UK and Martin’s addition to the team further enhances our collective expertise, experience and overall client offering. Given the growth in instructions in complex fraud cases and private prosecution work, Martin’s return is all the more timely and important. We are delighted to be working with him.’

Martin added: ‘Having trained at the firm this feels very much like a homecoming. Russell-Cooke has grown exceptionally in that time and the fraud and criminal litigation team in particular has developed a reputation for being one of the best in the business. It’s an exciting time to join.’
