SRA makes it easier for firms to do business

The Solicitors Regulation Authority has changed its rules to make it easier for solicitor-owned firms to expand their business beyond traditional legal services or become involved in separate businesses. It has published new guidance on its website on the Separate Business Rule, including advice on referrals. Crispin Passmore, executive director for policy, says: “We want to support this innovation, so we have amended the rules to create a level playing field, allowing law firms to compete with other companies offering these ‘one-stop shops’.”
