Litigation law firm hires partner to new department

Stewarts has recently hired insurance litigation partner Aaron Le Marquer to launch a new Policyholder Disputes department, focusing on high-value and complex disputes with insurers.

This new department will represent policyholders facing insured losses in a range of sectors, building on the firm’s experience in claimant-focused litigation.

Aaron (pictured, left) has over 18 years’ experience within the insurance law industry, both in the UK and across Asia, including two years in-house with a global insurer. He has acted for clients in the financial services, entertainment, hospitality, retail, logistics, manufacturing and sports sectors. Most recently, Aaron led the Products and Environmental Risks practice at a leading London insurance boutique, where he established himself as a leading practitioner in Covid-19 business interruption disputes.

Commenting on his appointment, Aaron said: 'Stewarts provides an excellent platform for a policyholder disputes practice. I am excited by the opportunity to build a market leading specialist team. The team will be conflict free and will leverage Stewarts’ expertise in innovative funding and group litigation structures and strategy.'

Managing Partner, Stuart Dench added: 'I am delighted to welcome Aaron to Stewarts. He has an outstanding reputation internationally in litigating and resolving complex insurance disputes. Aaron adds further strength and depth to our commercial disputes offering.'

Senior Associate James Breese (pictured, right) also joins Stewarts with Aaron.
