First in-house committee member appointed in North East

Anu Kaura, group in-house lawyer and head of legal at Malhotra Group, has been appointed as a committee member for the Law Society’s in-house division.

Anu has spent more than two years with the Newcastle-based hospitality and leisure group, and has previously worked at Thompsons Solicitors and Lionshead Law. She qualified as a barrister in 1999, before becoming a solicitor in 2004. At the Malhotra Group, she advises on a wide range of matters including regulatory issues, commercial property transactions, employment law and intellectual property.

The Law Society’s in-house division brings together in-house lawyers from across the corporate and public sectors, as well as charities and non-profits, to share best practice and address current issues. Anu represents the first committee member within the North East.

She commented: ‘I have really benefitted from establishing a relationship with a mentor through the Law Society’s In-House Division so it is important to me that I help other lawyers to connect with mentors too. I am really honoured and proud to have been appointed to the committee and I am looking forward to expanding its presence—and awareness of it—in the North East.’
