World's first global arbitration firm launches

Three Crowns, the world’s first global arbitration law firm, announced its official launch yesterday with offices in London, Washington DC and Paris. The six founding partners from top international law firms have created a new structure that will offer a unique business model in the legal sector. The firm will focus exclusively on arbitration; commercial, investment-treaty, and inter-state.

  • Jan Paulsson—until 2013, the co-head of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer’s worldwide international arbitration and public international law groups
  • Luke Sobota—previously a partner in Jones Day’s global disputes group, based in Washington DC
  • Constantine Partasides QC—previously London head of arbitration at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer
  • Gaetan Verhoosel—formerly co-chair of the Covington & Burling international arbitration practice
  • Georgios Petrochilos—previously Paris head of arbitration and head of public international law at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer
  • Todd Wetmore—formerly a partner at Sherman & Sterling.

Paulsson says: “We created 3C in the belief that international disputes call for specialist, focused advice and advocacy. We are confident clients will be attracted to this model, which ensures they will have direct access to a senior team.  Our new business structure avoids issues inherent to larger firms and brings highly experienced, well-respected names to the specialised field of international arbitration.

“The team has been at the forefront of high profile arbitrations for decades, and listening to clients, we recognised there was a real need for a dedicated team where the client would get direct attention from the lead partners at every stage of every case.”
