Productivity study yields alarming results
More than 40% of legal professionals’ time is not spent on the task in hand, according to a study by the iOpener Institute for People and Performance. However, the seemingly alarming statistic, gleaned from analysis of responses from more than 30,000 professionals across various industries, is not as bad as it sounds. The legal sector performed better than others—59% of time spent on the task, compared with a 58.8% average—proving lawyers work (marginally) harder than others. Interestingly, overall Mexico had the highest productivity (73.2% time on task) and Portugal had the lowest (43.3%).
