Twenty Essex has recently announced welcomed joint Heads of Chambers, Philip Edey QC and Charles Kimmins QC. They succeed Duncan Matthews QC and Stephen Atherton QC.
Both Philip (pictured, right) and Charles (pictured, left) are renowned commercial silks, who each act as lead advocate in a wide range of disputes both in court and in arbitration, and from time to time sit as arbitrator. They have been at Twenty Essex since they were called to the Bar and started pupillage in 1994. Philip took silk in 2009; and Charles in 2010. Both are highly ranked in multiple areas in the leading directories.
Philip and Charles commented: 'We are delighted to be taking over the role of Heads of Chambers at what is an exciting time for Twenty Essex.
Chambers’ success and cohesion owes an enormous amount to the vision, dedication and hard work of Duncan over his eight years as Head of Chambers (and, indeed, before that) for which Chambers is hugely grateful. His role in the successful development of Chambers’ presence in Singapore has been remarkable. We also want to thank Stephen for his assured leadership over the last few years, which has helped us emerge from the pandemic stronger than ever.'
Both Duncan and Stephen continue in practice from Twenty Essex.
