Global law firm Ashurst announces the appointment of Rhiannon Webster as partner in its London Digital Economy team, to lead the firm's UK data protection and information practice.
Joining from DAC Beachcroft, where she headed
up the firm's Information Law team, Rhiannon is a leading practitioner in the
market. Specialising in data protection law both in the UK and on international
projects, with a focus on the financial services sector, Rhiannon advises on
all forms of data protection compliance and data security breach management.
"Rhiannon's skill-set fits perfectly with
our brilliant Digital Economy practice, in what is a key area of strategic
focus for Ashurst. Her arrival enables us to offer even greater depth of
expertise to clients looking to leverage the value of data to augment existing
businesses or to pivot as part of their digital transformation journey",
said Jason Radford, Global Co-Head of Corporate.
Nick Elverston, Global Co-head of Digital
Economy said "Data is at the heart of so much of the digital economy. Its
commercial importance combined with increased regulatory requirements and
scrutiny laws means data protection and cyber resilience are now board level
issues. Data now also forms a key asset class in most of our major corporate
and commercial transactions. Rhiannon's addition to our team bolsters our
ability to advise clients in the throes of digital transformation".
Rhiannon commented: "Data is a central
pillar to digital transformation. Ashurst's exceptional market position in this
space is the right global platform to support clients navigating both the
challenges and opportunities data presents, as they look to deliver their
digital strategies. I am really looking forward to working with the team here
in London and globally to continue to grow the data and cyber brand.
Ashurst has a great reputation for innovation at the forefront of the industry
and with so many novel issues facing businesses around how best to manage and
use their data, it is a very exciting time to be joining the Ashurst team."
