Quinn Emanuel hires collective action star in London

Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan LLP has announced that Ravi Nayer is moving to the firm as a partner. Nayer, a partner at Brown Rudnick, will join Quinn Emanuel’s London office.

Nayer is a collective action specialist, representing some of the UK’s biggest institutions including pension funds, asset managers and insurers. In addition to advising on the conduct and merits of regulatory enforcement and securities class actions, Nayer advises clients on procedures and governance policies relating to bondholder disputes and related fiduciary duties.

Nayer has designed joint defence and novel litigation cooperation agreements for corporates in some of the UK’s biggest class actions, including the high profile £4bn RBS Rights Issue litigation. He was seconded to a major UK FTSE 100 asset manager as its global head of disputes and has experience across multiple jurisdictions including the US, India, North Africa and the Caribbean.

John B. Quinn, founder of Quinn Emanuel, said: ‘The London collective action practice has been a huge success story for the firm and we have been looking to add to it with the right partner for some time. Ravi stands out as a major talent in the market and we can’t wait for him to join our already impressive roster of London partners.’

Nayer said, ‘Like many of my peers, I have admired Quinn Emanuel from afar for some years.  It is synonymous with innovation in litigation, technical expertise and unparalleled commitment to the cause of its clients.  I feel privileged to be part of the next phase of its remarkable growth and ambitions in London.’

Nayer is a committed champion of workplace diversity and the widening of access to the profession, partnering with BPP University on upskilling law students in 2021. He has previously been the Chair of London’s largest mental health charity, and is presently the Chair of Barnardo’s inaugural BAME engagement committee.
