CILEx— Harvinder Sondh

CILEx appoints business development director
The Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx) has brought in new business development director Harvinder (Harvey) Sondh to identify and drive new areas of growth.

Harvey, formerly director of innovation and enterprise at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, will focus on growth across UK and international markets for both the professional and commercial areas of the organisation.

Sitting on CILEx’s executive board and heading up the teams responsible for business development, marketing and communications, he will be looking to expand the base of law firms, in-house legal departments and government bodies working with CILEx to open up career paths for their workforce. He will also be working to further increase awareness of the CILEx route into law among the wider public.

He brings over 20 years of experience gained in healthcare and commercial roles at corporate, membership and trade organisations.

CILEx CEO, Linda Ford said: ‘CILEx provides companies and law firms with the skills they need in an ever-changing and increasingly competitive market. Training and qualifying with us offers a raft of opportunities for our members who take advantage of our flexible approach to on the job learning.

‘As we continue to challenge the system and promote the benefits of our alternative route into the law, Harvey brings a wealth of knowledge and experience of working with professional bodies. His understanding of how to respond to the needs of members and develop opportunities for commercial growth will be invaluable.’

Commenting on his appointment, Harvey said: ‘It’s an exciting time to be joining CILEx. The organisation is going through a period of considerable change which will unlock new opportunities within the legal profession. CILEx has a compelling offer for its members and employers and I look forward to working with the team to build on this.

‘I have been struck by CILEx’s leading role in promoting social mobility and diversity within the legal profession and I’m pleased to be joining an organisation that is making such a positive contribution to opening up the profession to aspiring lawyers from all backgrounds.’
